PARIS — A Peru man faces multiple felony charges after being indicted in connection with a Christmas Eve collision that sent two people to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

An Oxford County grand jury handed down a five-count indictment charging Jeffrey Glover, 57, of Pleasant Street with two felony counts each of aggravated assault and criminal operating under the influence, as well as a single misdemeanor count of operating beyond the restrictions of his license.

According to the indictment and police reports, Glover was driving a Ford pickup truck while intoxicated on Dec. 24 in Peru when he struck a minivan head-on. The occupants of the minivan, Travis Blanchard and Emily Pillsbury, were seriously injured and taken to a hospital.

The incident created “a substantial risk of death or extended convalescences necessary for recovery of physical health,” according to the indictment. Glover was intoxicated or had a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 or more at the time of the incident, it said.

Sgt. Timothy Holland of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said the vehicles hit in the road’s embankment. Blanchard went off-road to avoid Glover, who was driving in the opposite lane on a blind hill.

“(Blanchard) had no place to go,” Holland said.

If convicted, Glover faces a maximum of 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
