Boothbay 5, Dirigo 3

DIXFIELD — Kayla Brooks played a part in all three of Dirigo’s goals, but the Cougars fell 5-3 to Boothbay on Wednesday.

Brooks scored twice and assisted on Kaiya Martin’s goal.

Boothbay’s Kayla Lewis and Sydney Meader each scored twice and Page Brown contributed two assists in the victory, while Hali Goodwin stopped three to earn the win betwene the pipes.

Morgan Morrow turned back eight shots in the loss.

Winthrop 9, Telstar 0

WINTHROP — Winthrop flexed its muscle from the opening whistle of the season Wednesday, getting three goals each from Kinli Dibiase and Emily Molino as the Ramblers toppled Telstar 9-0 in an MVC field hockey tilt.

Hanna Caprara, Katie Perkins and Moriah Hajduk also scored for Winthrop (1-0), which has high hopes for this campaign. Perkins added a pair of assists to go with her goal, and Corinna Coulton turned back the only shot she faced to preserve the shutout.

Perry Morton was stout in goal for Telstar in the loss, stopping 20 shots.

Poland 3, Greely 2

CUMBERLAND — Sadie Archer scored the game-winning goal in double overtime to give the Poland Knights the 3-2 victory over the Greely Rangers in a Western Maine Conference game Wednesday.

Lexi Morey and Desiree Menard scored the Knights’ first two goals. Desiree Menard and Brianna Doucette had assists for Poland.

Lizzie Brown scored both Greely goals, both coming in the first half.

Two Poland goalies saw playing time as Ashley Cloutier made two saves on four shots and Ashton Sturtevant stopped all three shots she face.
