PARIS — A Rumford man was sentenced to four years in jail Monday morning after pleading guilty to an unlawful sexual conduct charge following a 2015 incident with a girl under 12 years old.

As part of the plea deal, Dalton Pike, 20, will have all but nine months of the sentence suspended, and will serve the time at the Oxford County Jail.

The state also dismissed a gross sexual assault charge as part of the deal.

Following his release, Pike will have two years of probation, with the conditions that he undergo sex offender evaluation and counseling.

He is also not allowed to have contact with the victim, or any girls under the age of 12, unless supervised.

Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Winter told Active-Retired Justice Robert Clifford that if the case had gone to trial, the victim would have testified that on Feb. 14, 2015, she had been sexually assaulted by Pike in the laundry room of her apartment.

Winter said that during an interview with Capt. Daniel Garbarini of the Rumford Police Department, following his arrest, Pike said he thought the victim was 16 years old, and said that the victim had asked to have sex with him, and that they had only engaged in sexual activity once.
