GARDINER — Cole Dorman found Sean Testa in the end zone for a 14-yard touchdown pass in the waning seconds, ending Mt. Blue’s winless start with a 14-9 road win over Gardiner on Friday night.
Makao Thompson gave the Cougars (1-4) their first lead of the game on their opening drive of the second half, rumbling in from four yards out to make it 6-3. Thompson was a key cog on the ground for the Mt. Blue attack in the second half.
Collin Foye gave the Tigers (1-4) the lead back early in the fourth quarter, scoring from 34 yards out on a quarterback scramble. Matt Boynton had earlier given Gardiner a 3-0 halftime lead thanks to a 27-yard field goal.
Windham 27, Edward Little 6
WINDHAM — Desmond Leslie threw for two touchdowns in the first half and ran for two of his own in the second half, helping host Windham to a 27-6 victory over Edward Little in a Class A North football clash on Friday night.
Leslie hooked up with Blake Houser on passing touchdowns of 75 and 70 yards to put the Eagles (3-2) up 13-0 at halftime.
EL quarterback Grant Hartley found Tyler Blanchard for an 18-yard score early in the second half to cut the deficit to 13-6. Hartley was 23 of 40 for 204 yards passing for the Red Eddies (2-3), who were hurt by three turnovers in the red zone.
Lake Region 7, Gray-New Gloucester 6
NAPLES — Dakota Stover ran 70 yards for a touchdown and Lake Region made the extra-point to go up 7-6 before halftime on Friday night. That score stood for the Lakers (1-4) who earned their first win of the season while hosting Gray-New Gloucester (0-5).
Paul Walker converted the game-winning PAT for Lake Region.
