As socialism inches its way into this country, people should beware of false prophets who promise things that seem unthinkable, unbelievable or sound too good to be true. They are trying to make their goal seem desirable and acceptable.
Socialism must not be allowed to happen.
Norman Thomas of the socialist party made the statement that the American people would never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name “liberalism,” they would adopt every fragment of the socialist program until, one day, the country would be a socialist nation without knowing how it happened.
During the 1920s, Alexander Trachtenberg of the Communist Party USA was quoted at a social gathering as saying, “When we get ready to take the United States, we will not take it under the label of communism. We will not take it under the label of socialism. Those labels are unpleasant to the American people. We will take the United States under the labels we have made very lovable … liberalism, progressivism, democracy. But take it, we will.”
A country cannot progress into the future if it cuts itself off from the past. It is obvious that so many efforts have been made to distance this country from what the Founding Fathers had whole-heartedly envisioned.
People should be reminded that this country is a republic, one nation under God, with liberty and justice for all.
