1. Bonny Eagle (8-0) (2)
The Scots had the confidence to go for the two-point conversion down by one at home to Thornton. It worked, and now the Scots get homefield advantage in the playoffs.
2. Thornton Academy (7-1) (1)
A win over Bonny Eagle would have set up a possible playoff rematch at home for the Golden Trojans. But even in defeat they showed they can win in Standish.
3. Portland (7-1) (3)
The Portland-South Portland rivalry was one-sided in week eight, with the Bulldogs winning 47-0 on the road. Now one of the hottest teams in the state gets a bye week to start the playoffs.
4. Brunswick (8-0) (4)
The Dragons get a week off after rolling through Class B North. They’ll await either Messlonskee or Skowhegan in the second round of the playoffs. The Dragons will be heavily favored.
5. Kennebunk (8-0) (5)
There was no let-down for the Rams, who beat Noble 27-7 to end the regular season. Now they start the playoffs against Leavitt, who they didn’t see during the regular season.
6. Biddeford (7-1) (6)
The Tigers made the trip up to Turner look easy, and let off some steam after losing to Kennebunk the week before. They’ll be a movtivated bunch in the playoffs.
7. Cape Elizabeth (8-0) (8)
Something finally slowed down the Capers, and it was the Wells defense. But 13 points was enough to give Cape Elizabeth homefield advantage in the playoffs.
8. Brewer (7-1) (9)
The Witches blasted Hampden Academy to end the regular season. Now they get a week off to prepare for Lawrence or Cony, then hopefully a rematch with Brunswick.
9. Wells (7-1) (7)
The Warriors have plenty to lament after a sloppy loss to Cape Elizabeth. A playoff rematch will now be on the road, and Wells will work on executing better next time.
10. Scarborough (6-2) (10)
The Red Storm are a rematch against South Portland — 38-6 win during the regular season — away from a rematch at Thornton Academy, where they kept it close for a while.
