This is in response to comments from Maine Republican Party Executive Director Jason Savage about a press conference I spoke at in Lewiston, mentioned in an article, “BIW workers lash out at Poliquin on pensions” (Sun Journal, Nov. 5).

Savage did not address the issue of BIW pensions, raised by myself and Ralph Hilton, nor did he offer a defense of Congressman Bruce Poliquin’s handling of those pensions. While Savage seems to think he can ignore the very reason for us speaking out, I can assure him that management of pension funds is a serious issue to me and thousands of other workers.

It is unfortunate that Savage chose not to address the issue.
