FARMINGTON — The Arts Institute of Western Maine will present a concert by The Sly Voxes at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at Nordica Auditorium in Merrill Hall at the University of Maine at Farmington.

Admission is $12; students with ID are free. 

Celebrating their 10th anniversary, The Sly Voxes is Boston’s premier male a cappella ensemble. Noted for their eclectic repertoire, the Voxes annually perform music spanning the centuries and include Renaissance motets, foreign folk songs, spirituals and contemporary pop classics in their concerts.

Founded by director Kerry Brennan in 2007, the Voxes enjoy a reputation for realizing the highest level of choral singing — in range of material, interpretation and faithfulness to stylistic conventions. The 16 members of The Sly Voxes have sung in a cappella groups and choruses at Amherst, Harvard, Dartmouth, Oberlin, Connecticut College, WPI, and Bowdoin. They are are businessmen, doctors, lawyers, teachers, headmasters, construction engineers, ministers, church musicians, retired CEOs and venture capitalists.

Brennan is the headmaster of The Roxbury Latin School, where he teaches English, history and music. He has had a distinguished career in education and music. A magna cum laude graduate of Amherst College, he was a Klingenstein Fellow at Columbia’s Teachers College where he earned his master’s degree.

Over the years, Brennan has taught and occupied leadership positions at Amherst College, Harvard, Roxbury Latin, University School and Collegiate School. He is also the associate conductor of Mastersingers USA, a 100-voice men’s chorus with singers from across the U.S. and abroad.

Brennan has served on various school and arts boards, and is president of the International Boys’ Schools Coalition, an organization of nearly 300 boys’ schools that serves 250,000 students from around the world.
