OXFORD — Three people were taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon following a collision at Skeetfield Road and King Street, Lt. Michael Ward of the Oxford Police Department said.
Ward said Dawn Derenburger, 46, of Charlottesville, Virginia, was driving east on King Street when a 2000 Mazda driven by Billie Jo Coolidge, 39, of Oxford struck the front of Derenburger’s 2009 Nissan Murano.
“Coolidge failed to stop at the stop sign on Skeetfield Road and plowed into the side of Derenburger’s vehicle,” Ward said. “It appears that some issues with Coolidge’s motor vehicle may have caused the accident.”
Coolidge complained of chest and back pain, while her passenger, Richard Grant, 38, of Oxford, suffered minor facial cuts.
Ward said Derenburger also complained of chest and back pain.
All three people were transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway with injuries not considered life threatening.
Western Maine Towing removed the vehicles from the scene.
The Oxford Fire Department also responded to the accident.
