PRESQUE ISLE — Brooke Reynolds recorded a double-double and Tianna Harriman drained four treys to lead the Central Maine Community College women’s basketball team to an 82-56 win over the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Wednesday.
Reynolds and Harriman, both former Edward Little standouts, each scored 12 points to pace the Mustangs’ offensively. Reynolds also pulled down 10 rebounds.
After leading by seven points at halftime, 30-23, CMCC pulled away in the second half.
“We had a great second half after a sluggish first quarter,” Mustangs coach Andrew Morong said. “We forced a ton of turnovers in the second half.”
Harriman and Jenny Schlim each finished with five steals. Schlim also blocked four shots.
Amanda Hotham scored 22 points, highlighted by 12-of-12 shooting at the free-throw line, for the Owls (0-4).
The Mustangs (9-0) host St. Joseph’s on Sunday at noon.
Men’s basketball
Maine-Presque Isle 54, CMCC 52
PRESQUE ISLE — The Central Maine Community College men’s basketball team dropped a close one on the road, falling 54-52 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Wednesday afternoon.
Kevin Collins made 11 of 16 free throws en route to a game-high 17 points. He also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds, and his three assists tied for another game-high.
The Owls outscored the Mustangs by one point in each half, 25-24 in the first half and 29-28 in the second.
CMCC had three players score in double figures: Pietro Badalassi put up 12, Rob Skinner had 11 and Cam Duncon scored 10. Skinner and Badalassi also pulled down a team-high five rebounds.
The Mustangs’ (6-3) next game is at home against St. Joseph’s on Sunday at 2 p.m.
