POLAND — Morgan Brousseau and Jess Seeley combined for six points in overtime Tuesday as Poland notched their second win on the season in a 34-30 victory over Fryeburg.

Seeley led the Knights (2-0) with 12 points, while Brousseau chipped in with 10. Brousseau nailed a pair of foul shots in the extended session.

Nicole Bennett led Fryeburg (1-1) with eight points, while Kaylyn Delaney chipped in with seven.

Spruce Mountain 58, Lincoln Academy 54

LINCOLN — Alex Bessey poured a collegiate-like 30 points into the net Tuesday evening to lead Spruce Mountain to a 58-54 win over Lincoln in more early-season girls’ basketball action.

Bessey also pulled down 11 rebounds, made five assists and blocked three shots to pace the Phoenix (1-1).

Dirigo 45, Hall-Dale 35

FARMINGDALE — Dirigo picked up the pace after the halftime break, outscoring their oppoents 26-17 and came away with a 45-35 victory over Hall-Dale on Tuesday.

Brittany Greig led the Cougars (1-1) with 12 points, while Alexa Varnum chipped in with 11 and Kinsey Conant added eight.

The Bulldogs (0-2) were paced by Sabrina Freeman with a game-high 14 points, 14 rebounds and six steals. Ellie Bekker chipped in with nine points, highlighted by a pair of shots from beyond the arc.

Mountain Valley 72, Winthrop 40

WINTHROP — After jumping out to an 11-point lead in the first frame, Mountain Valley never eased off the gas and raced away to a 72-40 rout over Winthrop in girls’ basketball action.

Ashley Russell led the Falcons (1-1) with a collegiate-like 30 point performance, while Lizz White chipped in with 14 points.

The Ramblers (1-1) were paced by Adlin Chaparin with an 11-point effort, while Aailiyah Wilson-Falcone also contributed with eight points.

Monmouth 61, Wiscasset 25

WISCASSET — Tia Day had 11 points to lead Monmouth to a 61-25 victory over Wiscasseet in a girls’ basketball contest. Maddie Amero had eight points while Kaeti Butterfield had seven points in the victory.

Maeve Blodgett had nine points to lead the Wolverines while Haylee Craig chipped in with eight points.

Monmouth improves to 2-0 while Wiscasset drops to 0-2.

Leavitt 36, Morse 29

BATH — Junior guard Elizabeth Goulette drained a game-high 14 points to lead Leavitt to a 36-29 victory over Morse in girls’ basketball action Tuesday evening.

The Hornets (2-0) oustpaced the Shipbuilders (0-2) by a margin of 9-2 in the second quarter for a 14-11 halftime lead. Rebecca Fogg and Sophia Gilbert added seven points each for Leavitt.

Junior Marissa Parks collected a team-leading 12 points on three field goals and six free throws for Morse in the losing effort.

Lewiston 54, Bangor 42

BANGOR — Senior guard Skylar Gaudette and senior forward Morgan Eliasen posted 13 points each to lead Lewisto to a 54-42 victory over Bangor in girls’ basketball action Tuesday evening.

The Blue Devils (1-1) forced 29 turnovers. Freshman guard Hannah Chaput came off the bench to score 11 points and create many of the turnover opportunities to benefit Lewiston.

Senior guard Sami Thayer tossed three successful field goals from beyond the arc for a team-leading nine points for the Rams (0-2) in the losing effort.

Bangor 57, Lewiston 47

LEWISTON — Bangor used a 17-5 run in the second quarter to take control and pulled away to post a 57-47 victory over Lewiston in a boys’ basketball tilt Tuesday.

George Payne led the Rams (1-1) with 23 points, while Damien Vance chipped in with 13.

The Blue Devils (0-2) were paced by Luke Madore with 23 points, their only player in double figures.

Kennebunk 75, Gray-New Gloucester 71

KENNEBUNK — Kennebunk used a 21-16 run in the third quarter to pull off a narrow 75-71 victory over Gray-New Gloucester Tuesday in what may turn out to be the highest-scoring battle they face all season.

Cam Lovejoy led a group of five players in double figures with 16 points, while Tripp Bush tallied 14 and Zack Sullivan added 13. Kyle Dasienium and Max Murray also contributed with 10 points apiece.

The Patriots (0-2) were paced by Hunter Colby with a game-high 22 points, while John Martin chipped in with 21.

Hall-Dale 64, Dirigo 44

FARMINGDALE — Alec Biron led Hall-Dale with 22 points in a 64-44 victory over Dirgio in a boys’ basketball contest.

Tyler Nadeau chipped in with 16 points in the victory while Owen Dupont had 11 points and seven rebounds for the Bulldogs (2-0).

Cooper Chiasson led all scorers with 27 points in the losing effort.

JAY — Junior guard Mason Shink scored a team-high 12 points to lead Spruce Mountain to a 62-33 triumph over Lincoln Academy in boys’ basketball action Tuesday evening.

The Pheonix (2-0) took a 31-11 halftime lead. Brett Frey contributed 11 points in a well executed offense for Spruce Mountain.

Senior forward Cody Tozier led scored a team-high 12 points for the Eagles (1-1) in the losing effort.

Lisbon 81, Carrabec 77

NORTH ANSON — Junior guard Jonah Sautter registered 23 points as Lisbon dashed past Carrabec 81-77 in boys’ basketball action Tuesday evening.

The Greyhounds (1-1) took a 14-6 lead in the first quarter, and played tought over the next three quarters in a back and forth contest. Tyrese Joseph chipped in with 20 points on nine field goals and a pair of free throws.

Senior guard Dustin Crawford notched a game-high 33 points for the Cobras (1-1) on 10 field goalsand 12 free throws. Evan Holzworth added another nine field goals, including two from three-point range for 20 points in the losing effort.

Yarmouth 8, Maranacook/Winthrop 0

KENTS HILL — Cooper May had a hat trick to lead Yarmouth to a 8-0 victory over Maranacook/Winthrop in boys’ hockey Tuesday night.

Chris Romano and Dom Morrill each had a pair of goals in the victory while Bill Jacobs had a goal.
