PARIS — Oxford Hills School District Superintendent Rick Colpitts announced late Thursday afternoon that there will be a two-hour delay in starting classes Friday morning because of frigid temperatures.
“Our region is expected to face dangerous wind chills,” he said in a voicemail. “We anticipate there being some difficulty in starting our bus fleet in the cold and have concerns with the number of students who must walk or wait at bus stops in subzero temperatures.”
Parents are encouraged to use the bus monitoring app, Here Comes the Bus, to monitor when to send children to bus stops, he said. The app was described in an informational letter that was distributed with report cards.
“We strongly urge students to dress appropriately before leaving for the bus or walking to school,” the School Administrative District 17 leader said.
