LEWISTON — Daniel Carl Tolman, of Lewiston went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 58 years old.
Dan Tolman was a respected business owner, and founder of Tolman Associates in Lewiston. He was well-known and well-liked by his community and his clients. He was a family man. He was absolutely devoted to his two girls, his adopted son and his six grandchildren.
Daniel was born in Rockland, on Dec. 28, 1957, to Carl Webber Tolman and Doris Mossman Tolman. He went to Rockland District High School and graduated from Georges Valley High School in 1976. After graduation, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy. In 1977, he met the love of his life, Randi Seavey. They were married in 1978.
Daniel always knew he was called to serve the Lord. After the loss of his mother, and the devastating death of his infant daughter, he put that call to action. He attended Hyles Anderson College in Crown Point, Ind. He graduated in 1989 with his degree in pastoral theology. He went to the University of Maine for his degree in business. Daniel was very proud to pastor his first church, Appleton Baptist Church in Appleton. He went on to pastor several more churches.
In 1995, Daniel started working in the insurance industry for Prudential. He was awarded “Rookie of the Year” that first year by the State of Maine. He became top sales manager in the United States under Prudential. He achieved the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table award 20 years in a row. He later opened Tolman Associates, insurance and financial planning in 1998. Dan was blessed in his endeavors in finance. He treated his clients as friends. Using the Lord as his guide, humbly and charitably, with the help of his wife and his beloved assistant, Chelsea Blouin, he continued to become very successful.
Daniel Tolman was larger than life. He was the “Big Fish.” He was generous, funny and kind. He was a shrewd business man. He loved animal — especially his dog, Shamus — and a good story. He will be sorely missed.
Daniel Tolman is survived by his wife, Randi; his daughters, Meaghaan and Erin; his son, Alfonza Brooks; his beloved grandchildren, Alexia, Eva, Dominic, Leah, Ryann and Amelia; and his sister, Delores Ogden.
