AUBURN — St. Dominic Academy is pleased to announce that the boys’ hockey program will be hosting the 2016 St. Dominic Academy Christmas Classic invitational hockey tournament from Tuesday, Dec. 27-29 at the Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn.
St. Dominic Academy will host state rivals Edward Little High School and Bangor High School, along with the following out of state schools: Notre Dame Fairfield and Northwest Catholic both from Fairfield and West Hartford Connecticut respectively; Bishop Brady High School of Concord, New Hhampshire along with St. Thomas Aquinas of Dover, New Hampshire and Rhode Island’s Smithfield High School.
On Tuesday, December 27th games will be as follows:
Bishop Brady verse Edward Little High School, 1 p.m.
Notre Dame Fairfield verse Smithfield High School, 3 p.m.
Bangor High School verse St. Dominic Academy, 5 p.m.
St. Thomas Aquinas verse Northwest Catholic, 7 p.m.
Games on Wednesday, December 28th will begin at 1 p.m. followed by 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. with opponents dependent on prior day results.
Day three of the tourney will feature championship and consolation games at 11 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. utilizing both rinks of the Norway Savings Bank Arena.
“The goal of the St. Dominic Academy Christmas Classic is to provide a high caliber and unique hockey experience to our student athletes,” Tournament Director Steve Ouellette said. “It showcases the proud tradition of St. Dom’s hockey and we look forward, along with our sponsors and hotel partners, to hosting one of the best high school hockey tournaments in the Northeast. This is a great example of the benefit of having such a facility as the Norway Savings Bank Arena in our local reach and the impact that it has on our community.”
