WINTHROP — Winthrop used a 23-11 run in the second quarter to take command and pulled away to record a 72-59 victory over Telstar in a boys’ basketball tilt Tuesday. 

Jacob Hickey led the undefeated Ramblers (5-0) with 24 points, while Garrett Tsouprake chipped in with 23 and Bennett Brooks added 10. 

The Rebels (1-5) were paced by Jarrett Bean with a 17-point effort, while Avry Griffin and Tanner Wheeler each added 10. 

Forest Hills 73, Rangeley 49

AUGUSTA — Forest Hills went on a 23-13 second quarter run Tuesday before racing away to post a 73-49 win over Rangeley in more boys’ hoops action.

Dalton Gregoire led Forest Hills (2-3) with 20 points, while Javier Padilla chipped in with 14. Jakob Rivas and Hunter Cuddy also contributed with 10 points each in a well-rounded attack.

Carl Trafton paced the Lakers (0-4) with 18 points, while Kyle LaRochelle added 13.  

Oxford Hills 67, Mt. Blue 37

PARIS — Chris St. Pierre poured in a career-high 28 points Tuesday to lead Oxford Hills to a 67-37 rout over Mt. Blue in a mid-season boys’ basketball matchup. 

Matt Fleming chipped in for the Vikings (4-3) with 16 points, the only other player in double figures. 

The Falcons (1-4) were paced by Cooper Hollingsworth with 11 points, while Will Frederic added eight. 

Boothbay 57, Mt. Abram 39

AUGUSTA — After jumping out to a 17-point advantage in the first frame, Boothbay kept the offense in high gear and sped away to post a 57-39 mid-season win over Mt. Abram on Tuesday. 

Carter Babcock led the Seagulls (3-3) with 14 points, while Kyle Ames and Jacob Leonard each tallied 11. Austin Campbell also contributed with 10 points in a well-rounded attack. 

The winless Roadrunners (0-5) were paced by Dan Luce with a solid 18-point effort, while brother Nate Luce chipped in with seven. 

Wiscasset 55, Oak Hill 49

WALES — Wiscasset built a comfortable 11-point lead in the first half and hung on to record a 55-49 win over Oak Hill in more mid-season boys’ hoops action Tuesday.

Cody Roberts led the Wolverines (5-2) with 19 points, while Ethan James chipped in with 17.

The Raiders (3-2) were paced by Evan Boston with 17 points, while Marcus Bailey tallied 11 and Darren Bailey added 10. 

Mountain Valley 74, Carrabec 44

RUMFORD — Mountain Valley sprinted out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter and easily sped away to record a 74-44 mid-season rout over Carrabec in boys’ hoops action Tuesday evening. 

Jacob Blanchard led the Falcons (3-3) with 12 points, while Zach Duguay chipped in with 11. 

The Cobras (1-5) were paced by Evan Holzworth with a game-high 22 points, the only player to reach double figures.

Boothbay 75, Mt. Abram 29

BOOTHBAY — Boothbay built a commanding 36-18 advantage in the first half and never eased off the gas, sprinting away to a 75-29 rout over Mt. Abram in a girls’ basketball matchup Tuesday. 

Faith Blethen led the undefeated Sea Hawks (7-0) with a game-high 30 points, while Page Brown chipped in with 24.

Meg Sorel led the Roadrunners (3-2) with a solid 11-point effort, while Summer Ross added seven.  

Monmouth 48, Dirigo 24

MONMOUTH — Monmouth went on a 20-0 tear in the third quarter Tuesday and pulled away to record a convincing 48-24 victory over Dirigo in a mid-season girls’ basketball tilt.

Tia Day led the Mustangs (5-1) with 16 points, while Emily Grandahl chipped in with nine. 

The Cougars (1-5) were paced by Sophia Jacques with eight, while Alexa Varnum added seven. 

Oak Hill 44, Wiscasset 21

WISCASSET — Desirae Dumais dropped in a game-high 19 points and Abby nadeau added 11 as Oak Hill pulled away from Wiscasset for a 44-21 win in an MVC girls’ basketball contest Tuesday.

The Raiders (2-2) led by eight at the half, and pulled away steadlily throughout the third and fourth quarters.

Hayhlee Craig led the way for the host Wolverines (1-6) with 11 of the team’s 19 points.

Girls’ hockey

St. Dom’s 10, Yarmouth/Freeport 3

NORTH YARMOUTH — Kristina Cornelio and Bugsy Hammerton each netted a hat trick to propel St. Dom’s to a 10-3 rout over Yarmouth/Freeport in a girls’ hockey game Tuesday. 

Alexa Kasaris chipped in for the Saints (6-0) with two goals, while Dasha Fons and Katya Fons also tallied to complete the scoring. 

Sydney St. Pierre, Margaret Parotta and Caroline Grant all scored for Yarmouth/Freeport in a solid effort. Peyton Winslow made nine saves for St. Dom’s.
