Genealogical society meeting Jan. 7
FARMINGTON — The Sandy River Valley Chapter of the Maine Genealogical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Farmington Public Library.
Cindy Stevens will present a program on Stephen Titcomb, one of Farmington’s earliest settlers.
The group meets on the first Saturday of each month. Meetings are free and open to the public.

Jones Dance Band in Buckfield
BUCKFIELD — The Jones Dance Band will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 7, 14, 21 and 28, at the Masonic Hall, 5 High St.
Admission is $5 for adults. The lunch counter will be open.
Rumford Seniors luncheon Jan. 9
PERU — The Rumford Seniors will have a luncheon with shepherd’s pie at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at the senior center at Peru Elementary School.
The cost is $6 for members and $7 for nonmembers.
Pine Cone Chapter to meet
AUBURN — Pine Cone Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St.
The Chapter will renew the obligation, the Landmarks will be read, the Associate Conductress will give her lecture and the secretary will read the general information on the Grand Chapter Charity Funds.
The Mascots for District 4, Jewel and Jay O, will be at the Chapter.
The meeting will be preceded with a potluck supper at 6 p.m.
All Eastern Star members are welcome.
Honey bee club to meet
PARIS — Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Oxford County Extension Center, 9 Olson Road.
The guest speaker will be Chris Rogers, master beekeeper and owner of Backwoods Bee Farm.
New beekeepers are welcome.

Speed Stacking Saturdays at library
NORWAY — Speed Stacking Saturdays will be held at 1 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month from January to March at Norway Memorial Library.
Speed stacking is a sport of fitness, agility, concentration and quickness.
Children will be introduced to and practice the various stacking patterns needed to participate in the sport. After learning the stacking patterns, students will also practice fitness stacking using cups and buckets.
Children’s librarian Annika Black and trainer Sherri Otterson will lead the stacking. Experience is not necessary. The program is free and open to the public.
