AUBURN — A local man was struck by an SUV at about 10 a.m. Sunday while crossing Hotel Road to get his newspaper, according to his family. 

Robert Burns Sr., 81, was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston and is in an induced coma in the Intensive Care Unit. He suffered a fractured skull and a brain bleed. 

He is in stable condition currently under observation. 

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
