BYRON — Another search for a missing man from Byron will take place Sunday morning, according to volunteer Barry Breton.
Derek C. Adams, 46, has been missing since Dec. 28 from his home at 38 Noyes Road.
Breton said Adams’ family is organizing the search. Volunteers are asked to gather at the Town Hall at 8:30 a.m. and bring shovels or a probe pole.
Breton, with Tim Gallant as a passenger, used a truck with a plow wing from Dixfield on Friday morning to push back snow at the road shoulders in case Adams had fallen and got covered with snow. However, the search over roughly half a mile of road where Adams might have walked was unsuccessful.
Breton said he was volunteering, in part, because he went to school with Adams and locating him would bring some closure to the family.
Breton said they had 75 to 100 people in a search on Jan. 7, with another 20 the following day.
Adams is described as white, 5 feet 7 inches tall with brownish-gray hair. He usually wears glasses, but reportedly did not have them or his daily medication when he left his home.
Anyone with information about Adams’ location is asked to call the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office at 1-800-733-1421.
