RUMFORD — A fireman’s funeral honoring the life of Mexico Fire Chief Gary Wentzell was held Sunday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Puiia Gymnasium at Mountain Valley High School in Rumford. Co-officiating were the Rev. Izzie-Radford Nash of the Mexico Congregational Church, David Wilhoite of Apostolic Church in Mexico and Glenn Carver.
Entrance music was provided by the Maine Public Safety Pipes and Drum Corps. Words of remembrance were given by his daughter, Heather Sorensen, Lt. Joe Bruns and Firefighter Mike Chartier. Tim Gallant from Congressman Bruce Poliquin’s office presented a flag to the family that was flown over our nation’s capital. The fireman’s prayer was recited by Deputy Chief Richard Jones. The Bell Ceremony Reading was given by Rumford Fire Chief Bob Chase. Tolling of the bell was by Deputy Mike Theriault. The last-call notice was given by Oxford County Emergency Services.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader & Son Funeral Home.
