1950 – 2017
AUBURN — George Wilfred Mercier, 66, of Monmouth, passed away Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Hospice House following a long, courageous battle with graft-versus-host disease, with his loving family and friends by his side.
He was born July 29, 1950, in Livermore to Joseph and Eleanor Mercier. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was always willing to help out others in any way he could. He also had a lifelong interest in carpentry. He built many items for family and was always remodeling the family home.
George is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Priscilla Mercier; a daughter, Sherry Desjardins and her husband, Paul; a son, Richard Mercier; two granddaughters, Sarah and Emma; a stepgrandson, Craig; siblings, Elizabeth Nichols, David Mercier and his wife, Jackie, Barbara Mercier, James Mercier and Christopher Mercier; a nephew, Dennis Mercier; brothers-in-law, Roger Williams and his wife, Elida, Robert Williams and his wife, Jeanette; sisters-in-law, Robin Williams, Sally Manson and Shirley Collins; many Mercier and Williams nieces and nephews; and his good friends, David and Linda Dyer.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his son.
