LEWISTON — Junior forward Gabrielle Wilson netted nine points and hauled down 12 rebounds to lead Lewiston to a 43-41 victory over Cheverus in girls’ baksetball action Wednesday evening.

The Blue Devils (6-7) held Cheverus to just three three-point field goals and came out strong in the third quarter with a 14-7 run. Junior forward Victoria Harris contirbuted 10 points for Lewiston.

Junior guard Abby Cavallaro led the Stags (10-3) with 12 points on six field goals in the losing effort.

Edward Little 51, Windham 36

AUBURN — Edward Little used a 15-8 run in the third quarter to take control and pulled away to record a 51-36 victory over Windham in a girls’ basketball tilt on Wednesday.

Jordyn Reynolds led the Red Eddies (12-2) with 24 points, while Grace Fontaine tallied nine and Jade Perry added seven.

Windham (4-9) was paced by Hanna Talon with a solid 11-point performance.

Lake Region 51, Poland 37

NAPLES — Brooke Harriman and Kristen Huntress drained 12 points each as Lake Region sailed to a 51-37 victory over Poland in girls’ basketball action Wednesday evening.

The Lakers (8-5) went on a 6-0 run in the first quarter and never looked back. Lake Region led 27-19 at the break.

Junior guard Nathalie Theriault scored 13 points on five field goals and two free throws for the Knights (8-5) in the losing effort.

Lincoln Academy 57, Spruce Mountain 48

JAY — Lincoln Academy outscored Spruce Mountain 35-24 in the second half to erase a two-point halftime deficit to pull away for a 57-48 victory in girls’ Class B basketball action.

Spruce Mountain (3-10) raced out to a 16-10 advantage after one quarter. The Eagles clawed back with a strong second quarter and took the lead for good in the third before pulling away. Lincoln Academy (9-4) was led by Kaitlyn Feltis’ 14 points followed by Cagney O’Brien’s 13. Anna Hatch had eight points while Brie Wajer had seven.

Senior guard Alex Bessey led all scorers with 31 points, including five three-point shots. Hailee Perkins sank a pair of three’s to finish with six points in the defeat.

Girls’ hockey

Greely 5, Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill 0

LEWISTON — Two players recorded multiple goals Thursday as Greely skated to a 5-0 win over Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill in girls’ hockey action Wednesday.

Emilee McGillicuddy and Bridget Roberts each netted a pair of goals for the Rangers, while Courtney Sullivan’s shorthanded goal completed the scoring.

Nica Todd handled netkeeping duties for Greely, while Camree St. Hilaire worked between the pipes for the Blue Devils.

St. Dom’s 6, York 0

AUBURN — Kristina Cornelio netted a pair of goals and added two asissts to propel St. Dom’s to a 6-0 victory over York in another girls’ hockey tilt on Wednesday.

Emma Therriault, Alexa Kesaris, Bugsy Hammerton and Avery Lutrzykowski also tallied for the undefeated Saints (16-0) to complete the scoring.

Payton Winslow stopped all seven shots fired at her to earn the shutout, while Sophie Stevens handled netkeeping chores for York.

Boys’ basketball

Telstar 67, Dirigo 64

BETHEL — Tanner Wheeler made a key shot with just under two seconds remaining, drew a foul and made the shot at the line to give Telstar a huge 67-64 victory over Dirigo in a late-season boys’ basketball tilt Wednesday.

This was the first time the Rebels (5-9) have defeated the Cougars (4-10) two consecutive times in the same season.

Jarrett Bean led the Rebels with 24 points and 18 rebounds, while Tanner Wheeler tallied 16 points and Blake Rothwell added 11.

Dirigo was paced by Cooper Chiasson with a 22-point performance, while Luke Lueders chipped in with 17 points and Jeremy St. Germain added nine.

Mountain Valley 59, Mt. Abram 46

RUMFORD — After building a nine-point lead in the first frame, Mountain Valley used a 14-8 run in the final quarter to secure a 59-46 win over Mt. Abram in more late-season boys’ hoops action Wednesday.

Keegan Davis led the Falcons (6-8) with 25 points, while Jacob Blanchard chipped in with 11.

The Roadrunners (2-12) were paced by Casey Holt with a solid 16-point effort, while Dan Luce tallied 13.

Lake Region 56, Poland 50, OT

POLAND — Mark Mayo recorded six of Lake Region’s 10 points in the overtime frame as the Lakers slipped past Poland 56-50 in boys’ basketball action Wednesday evening.

Senior guard Tyler Walker scored a game-high 18 points, while junior guard Tristen Cahine posted 13 points for the Lakers (6-7)

Senior guard Kurtis Leighton registered a team-high 16 points for the Knights (3-10), while junior guard Peter Bolduc contributed 11 in the losing effort.

Cheverus 70, Lewiston 59

PORTLAND — Senior forward Jack Casale notched a double-double with 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead Cheverus to a 70-59 victory over Lewiston in boys’ basketball action Wednesday evening.

The Stags (10-3) bolted to a 25-14 first quarter lead.

Sophomore forward Matt Duchaine tallied 13 points for Cheverus.

Casale went 18-for-18 from the foul line, and garnered six of Cheverus’ 10 in the final frame.

Junior forward Garrett Poussard led the Blue Devils (2-11) with 17 points on seven field goals, including three from three-point range in the losing effort.

Lisbon 55, Wiscasset 49

WISCASSET — Junior guard Jonah Sautter collected a team-high 26 points to lead Lisbon to a 55-49 victory over Wiscasset in boys’ basketball action Wednesday evening.

The Wolverines (9-5) jumped out to a 9-0 lead.

But, the Greyhounds (7-7) battled back to trail by just one at halftime.

Sophomore guard Henry Doyle contgributed 12 points for Lisbon.

Senior center Ethan James tossed an impressive 30 points on 12 field goals, including three from three-point range, and three from the foul line for Wiscaset in the losing effort.

Oxford Hills 66, Deering 53

PARIS — Sophomore forward Matthew Fleming pounded out 21 points to lead Oxford Hills to a 66-53 victory over Deering in boys’ basketball action Wednesday evening.

The Rams (9-4) took a 10 point lead out of the gate, and went on a 15-point run to start the second half. But, the Vikings (11-3) managed to dig in both times and take the lead at the half, and more importantly before the final buzzer.

Junior guard Chris St.Pierre contributed 20 points for Oxford Hills.

Senior center Raffaele Salamone produced a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds, while senior forward Machar Nguany compiled 19 points for Deering in the losing effort.

College basketball

CMCC 102, Great Bay CC 29

AUBURN — All 13 players who suited up for the Mustangs played double-digit minutes, with 12 of them finding the scoring column in a 102-29 rout of Great Bay Community College. CMCC jumped out to a 36-4 first-quarter lead, and never looked back.

Eraleena Gethers-Hairston dominated the paint to the tune of 29 points, 16 rebounds, and two assists in just 18 mintues of play. In the last two games, Gethers-Hairston has ripped down a combined 34 rebounds.

Jane Lester finished with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Nicole Hamblin, Tianna Harriman, Rylee Moore, Seve Deery-Deraps, and Samantha Burke each tallied eight points.

Harriman also dished out a game-high eight assists.
