DIXFIELD — Residents of Dixfield, Peru, Canton and Carthage chose 12 members for their new school board Tuesday.
The four towns voted to leave Regional School Unit 10 late last year and form Regional School Unit 56.
All terms begin July 1 when RSU 56 begins operations.
The election results are as follows:
Dixfield
• Bruce Ross, RSU 10 director, three-year term, over Barry Prescott, 35-32, the only contested race;
• Barbara Chow, RSU 10 director, two-year term;
• Angela Varnum, two-year term;
• Samantha Noyes for one year; and
• Barry Prescott, a write-in candidate, one year.
Peru
• Deborah Mooney, three-year term;
• Becky Hall, two-year term; and
• Edgar Parent, RSU 10 director, one-year term.
Canton
Natalie Sneller, RSU 10 director, three-year term; and
• Anne Chamberlin, one-year term.
Carthage
• Ronnie Hutchinson, RSU 10 director, three-year term; and
• Maryann Young, two-year term.
Kim Dailey, RSU 56 election secretary, said the first school board meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Dirigo High School in Dixfield.
