RUMFORD — Jacob Blanchard registered a team-leading 21 points to lead Mountain Valley to a 64-62 victory over Lisbon in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Falcons (7-10) took a two-point lead into the break.

Tyrese Joseph sank a game-high 23 points, while Jonah Sautter compiled another 21 points for the Greyhounds (9-8) in the losing effort.

Boothbay 85, Oak Hill 55

BOOTHBAY HARBOR — Junior point guard Kyle Ames collected 12 of his 20 game points in a 32-point third quarter as Boothbay took an 85-55 victory over Oak Hill in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Seahawks (10-7) led 33-23 at the midpoint. Senior guard Jacob Leonard pitched in with 14 points, while Carter Babcock produced 12 rebounds for Boothbay.

Senior point guard Evan Boston tossed a team-high 20 points, while senior forward Austin Noble added 17 points for Oak Hill in the losing effort.

Madison 61, Dirigo 45

MADISON — Junior guard Sean Whalen poured in a game-high 21 points as Madison cleared Dirigo 61-45 in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Bulldogs (15-3) applied serious pressure to force many turnovers. Senior center Mitch Jarvais tallied 15 points on seven field goals for Madison.

Junior guard Luke Lueders netted a team-leading 17 points for the Cougars (4-13) in the losing effort.

Rangeley 71, Highview Christian 31

BANGOR —The Lakers jumped out to a quick lead en route to a 71-31 victory over Highview Christian on Friday.

Rangeley (6-10) held a 23-4 lead after the first quarter. Kyle Larochelle had 13 points in the victory, while Carl Trafton had 10 points.

Jeffery Macomber paced Highview Christian (1-16) with 11 points.

Waynflete 53, Gray-New Gloucester 50

PORTLAND — Jack Meahl and Yai Deng shared team-high honors with 14 points in a balanced attack as Waynflete dispatched Gray-New Gloucester in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

Asker Houssein, who had eight points, hit a 3-pointer with two seconds remaining in regulation for the Flyers.

Josiah Rottari launched six field goals from 3-point range, and earned a pair of foul shots, to garner a team-high 20 points for the Patriots in the losing effort.

Winthrop 68, Monmouth 42

WINTHROP — Jacob Hickey tabulated an impressive 35 points to lead Winthrop to a 68-42 triumph over Monmouth in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Ramblers (17-0) put 50 points on the board in the middle two quarters to take a 58-36 lead heading into the final frame.

Hunter Richardson connected for five field goals and a free throw for a team-leading 11 points in the losing effort.

Mt. Abram 56, Hall-Dale 28

SALEM — Freshman guard Summer Ross drained 21 points to lead Mt. Abram to a 56-28 victory over Hall-Dale in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Roadrunners (9-8) experienced smooth sailing throughout the game, never trailing in the physical contest. Junior guard Lindsay Huff contributed nine points for Mt. Abram.

Cat Kincaid posted a team-leading 12 points for the Bulldogs (1-16) in the losing effort.

Monmouth 58, Winthrop 38

WINTHROP — Tia Day recorded a game-high 19 points to lead Monmouth to a 58-38 victory over Monmouth in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Mustangs (14-3) went on a 21-12 run in the second quarter for a 30-15 halftime lead. Abby Allen notched a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Jillian Schmelzer scored a team-leading 10 points for the Ramblers (10-7) in the losing effort.

Rangeley 52, Highview Christian 25

BANGOR — Three players dominated for the Lakers in a 52-25 victory over Highview Christian on Friday.

Sydney Royce had a game-high 19 points and had five steals for Rangeley (13-3). Tasha Haley had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Celia Philbrick had 12 points.

Megan McDonald paced Highview Christian (4-13) with 10 points, while Cassidy Lessner had nine points.

Madison 57, Dirigo 39

DIXFIELD — Sydney LeBlanc, Madeline Wood and Ashley Emery led Madison to a 57-39 girls’ basketball victory over Dirigo on Friday.

LeBlanc put up a game-high 16 points, Wood had 12 and Emery finished with 10 for the Bulldogs (12-3).

Kaicey Conant led the Cougars (4-13) with 12 points, including three 3-pointers. Olivia Noyes contributed eight points, four assists and four rebounds and Alexa Varnum pulled down 13 rebounds and scored five points.

Unified basketball

Oxford Hills 44, Fryeburg 32

PARIS — Brandon Robare helped lead the Vikings to a 44-32 victory over the Raiders in an unified basketball game Friday.

Branden Skinner also contributed, putting up 16 points in the victory.

Matt McLaughlin, Aaron Limmer and Aaron Hennessy had eight points each to lead Fryeburg.

Junior Hockey

Cape Cod 5, L/A 4, OT

EAST FALMOUTH, Mass. — Nine different players scored Friday afternoon as the Islanders defeated the Fighting Spirit 5-4 in overtime in a NA3HL contest.

Cape Cod jumped out to a 3-0 lead with Chris O’Donnell, Chris Conlin and Mitchell Ellridge picking up the goals. Jonathan Donaghey put the Fighting Spirit on the board with 3:35 remaining in the first period.

L/A took a 4-3 lead as Andrew McCormick scored in the second period, while Sedrick Simons and Felix Nyqvist scored in the third period.

James Pollock tied the game up with 1:59 remaining in the game. Nevin Connors scored with seven seconds remaining the overtime frame.

Women’s basketball

Amherst 75, Bates 37

LEWISTON — Second-ranked Amherst College jumped all over Bates College from the get-go in its 75-37 women’s basketball victory Friday.

Amherst scored the first 16 points of the game and led 33-9 by the end of the first quarter. Meredith Doswell had game-highs of 17 points, six assists and three steals for Amherst.

Allie Coppola, who earlier this week broke the Bates record for most career rebounds, led the Bobcats with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Bates (6-14, 2-6 NESCAC) hosts Trinity (11-8, 2-5) for senior day Saturday at 3 p.m.
