Beacon Hospice volunteer training

LIVERMORE FALLS — Beacon Hospice will hold volunteer training sessions for seven weeks from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 15, at RSU 73’s Adult Education. 

Training will prepare volunteers to help provide support to clients and their families.

Journalism education scholarship offered

DEDHAM, MASSACHUSETTS — The Journalism Education Foundation of New England will award $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors and college students in New England who plan to pursue a career in journalism. 

The deadline for applications is March 3.

Jones Dance Band to perform

BUCKFIELD — The Jones Dance Band will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturdays, Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25, at the Masonic Hall at 5 High St. 

Food sale for Girls State

BUCKFIELD — A food sale will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at 2 Depot St.

Proceeds will help Auxiliary Post 58, American Legion, to send girls to Girls State.

Soup for football season

NORWAY — Christ Episcopal and Trinity Lutheran are collecting cans of soup for the Oxford Hills Food Pantry through February.

The pantry is in the basement of Christ Church, 35 Paris St. 

Donations may be dropped off during pantry hours, 9 to 11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays or in the church office between 9 a.m. and noon Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. 

Food pantry seeks donations 

AUBURN — The High Street Congregational Church Food Pantry has ongoing needs for the following items: peanut butter, canned vegetables, soup, canned past, canned meats, canned fruit, dry cereal, baking items, soup, crackers and toilet paper.

Cribbage league lists winners

LEWISTON — Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners on Feb. 2 were, first place; Ike LeCompte and Dick Dennis; second, Leo Bergeron and Pat Harrington; third, Dick Cloutier and Roger Labbe; fourth, Fran St.Pierre and Roger St. Pierre; and, fifth, Roland Bosse and Don Haley.

The Seniors play on Thursdays at the Lewiston Memorial Armory.
