PORTLAND — The Maine Community Foundation is offering more than 525 scholarships to support students pursuing music, journalism, teaching, horticulture, technology, the arts and other fields.

They are available for those who attend secondary, post-secondary and graduate schools, as well as non-traditional programs.

A complete listing of scholarships available for the upcoming school year is online at the Maine Community Foundation website.

In 2016, the community foundation awarded more than $2.3 million in scholarships to 1,124 Maine students attending schools in the United States around the world.

Adult learners also can benefit from 18 scholarship funds that help them navigate the road back to school. About 180,000 Mainers who started college never completed their degrees. The Maine Community Foundation is focusing on this group as part of its goal to advance education in Maine.

MaineCF’s scholarship funds are established for a variety of reasons, from honoring a family member to carrying on the tradition of “giving back” that helped an individual through college.
