POLAND — Town Manager Bradley Plante will not renew his three-year contract with the town and will leave at the end of March.
Plante emphasized Wednesday that he is not resigning.
“I’ve opted not to renew — that is not a resignation,” he said. “I have opted to let the contract just expire.”
Plante said he is planning to pursue other opportunities, but declined to say where.
“I just want to do something else,” he said. “There are a lot of opportunities out there.”
Plante came to Poland in 2014 after serving as town manager in Hampstead, Maryland.
He also served as town manager in Harrison from May 2008 through September 2010 and was town administrator in Rockland, Massachusetts, for nearly six years before that.
Plante has told selectmen he will not seek a new contract. He will publicly announce his decision at the selectmen meeting Tuesday.
Board Chairman Walter Gallagher said Wednesday that the board will discuss how to proceed with its search for a new manager Tuesday.
