NORWAY — Connie L. Lebroke, 60, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, after a short battle with cancer.

She was born in Waco, Texas, on March 25, 1956, to Curtis A. and Irene J. Millett. Connie worked for many years at A.C. Lawrence Co. leather tannery, then Norway Footwear and Sebago Shoe. In 1999, Connie was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and at that point, she became a housewife.

Connie enjoyed scrapbooking, watching televised sports, and the Game Show Network. She also enjoyed putting together puzzles, knitting and crocheting. Connie was well-known for her wonderful dishcloths and her slippers, of which she donated hundreds to Christmas for Teens. She volunteered for Responsible Pet Care and the Norway Fire Department Auxiliary.

Friends describe Connie as a “ray of sunshine” and “upbeat,” no matter the circumstances she encountered. In the face of such terrible news, Connie remained those things, vowing to “beat this” even as the cancer stole her freedom. We are all better having known Connie; she will be missed now and always.

She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Lebroke; her cat, Cabella, whom she doted on and adored; her three stepchildren, Robert Jr., Donna and Maria, and their families; four sisters, Julie, Vickie, Laurie and Jennifer and their spouses; special nieces and nephews, including Samantha, Kristina, Matthew, Benjamin, Nathan, Chyanna and Christopher; great-nephews, Tyson, Tucker and Jackson; great-niece, Isabella; and brother-in-law, Art Lebroke.

Online condolences may be shared with her family at www.chandlerfunerals.com.
