PORTLAND — On Friday, Feb. 24, the Portland Conservatory of Music’s Dimensions in Jazz series continues its annual Steve Grover “Birthday Bash” concerts in Meloon Chapel, Woodfords Congregational Church. This year in memoriam.

Grover, a Maine native, who passed away last year, was an award-winning composer, performer, teacher and mentor, who had a profound influence on jazz in this state and far beyond.

Curated by guitarist and longtime Grover colleague and collaborator Tony Gaboury, the concert features many of Grover’s regular bandmates and pays homage to his enduring impact on Maine’s jazz scene and celebrates the depth and breadth of his creative output.

Among the artists scheduled to perform alongside Gaboury are: clarinetist Brad Terry, guitarist Peter Herman, Pianist Frank Carlberg, Bassist Tom Bucci, Drummer R.J. Miller, Trumpeter Chris Claxton, and Saxophonists Jason St. Pierre and David Wells—friends and colleagues all.

Tickets are $5 for students; $10 for seniors, $15 In advance and $20 at the door.
