PHILLIPS — The Phillips Area Community Center will welcome the Narrow Gauge String Band at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, for a fundraiser.

Admission is either a donation of money in any amount, or a package of new underwear or new socks. The clothing will be donated to the United Methodist Economic Ministry in Salem.

According to Economic Ministry Administrative Assistant Tammie Gould, “We often get calls from the schools or from families with children and teens looking for new socks and underwear. There’s always a need.”

She said all sizes, styles and colors are wanted, but especially boxers for boys and hipsters for girls.

The idea for the fundraiser was inspired by the Western Maine Underwearness Project started by Susan and David Catino.

Band members Mike Worthley and Gary and Lois Hall will play at 3 p.m. and break around 4 or 4:30 for a community potluck supper.

The community center is at 21 Depot St. For more information, call Pam at 639-2630.
