WEST PARIS — First Universalist Church of West Paris has announced its upcoming worship services for the month of March. It invites the public to attend Sunday worship services at 9 a.m., exploring matters of humankind. All are welcome.
Redemption Song: March 5. Can people change? Do people sometimes have a real change of heart? The Universalist heritage says the answer is yes — redemption is real. This Sunday’s service will be an exploration of the quest for redemption. The service will be led by the Rev. Fayre Stephenson.
The Truth, or, Whatever?: March 12. This will be a discussion on the importance of truth, which has been pursued for centuries, yet now seems to be getting harder to attain. The discussion will be led by guest speaker Rodney Abbott, a frequent speaker at the church, known by many from his 30-year teaching career at Telstar Regional High School, as well as other teaching endeavors after retirement.
Living in Babylon: March 19. Psalm 137:11-6 chronicles the sadness the Israelites felt during their exile in Babylon. The Israelites’ captors asked for songs of Zion but the author of Psalm 137 said he was too homesick to sing those songs. How do exiles and refugees live without the solace of a home? What is humanity’s communal responsibility to care for refugees? The service will be led by the Rev. Fayre Stephenson.
Happiness Is … Or Isn’t It?: March 26. Happiness is currently a trendy topic, but no one can exactly define it. Where does it originate? What happens if you’re not one of the happy ones? The service will be lead by Joan Beal, who is a member of the Norway Unitarian Universalist Church and is a frequent speaker.
Refreshments follow each service.
