BRIDGTON, Maine (AP) — A Maine man has died in an apartment fire in Bridgton.
State police say smoking is the suspected cause of the fire that killed 73-year-old Randall Harmon on Friday night.
Firefighters were called to the second-floor apartment just after 7:30 p.m. and found Harmon’s body on the floor.
Police say investigators believe he fell asleep in a chair with a cigarette and his clothing caught fire.
The occupants of the other seven apartments were alerted by smoke detectors and were able to vacate the building.
The fire damage was confined to Harmon’s apartment.
