A Lisbon Falls teen on Thursday denied a charge that he sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl last month in a Westbrook motel room.

Rick Powers, 15, denied the charge at a juvenile court hearing in Portland, according to the Press Herald. He is next scheduled to appear in court in May.

Powers and another teen, Ernest Lorange, 16, of Portland, have been held at the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland since they were charged with gross sexual assault in the Feb. 5 attack.

Also charged is 19-year-old Garang Majok of Lewiston. He was being held at the Cumberland County Jail in Portland.

Westbrook police said in a news release last month that they were called to the motel on Larrabee Road the morning of Feb. 5 for a reported disturbance in the parking lot.

“The initial investigation by the responding patrol officers led to information that a sexual assault had occurred,” according to the release. “Detectives were called in to assist and further the investigation. The investigation found that a 16-year-old female was sexually assaulted by three males in a room at the Super 8 Motel.”

Early reports were that the girl knew her attackers, although police have not elaborated on the nature of that relationship.

The 16-year-old girl was said to be in the care of her family.
