FARMINGTON — Irene B. Samson, 89, a resident of Farmington, formerly of Jay, passed away Friday, March 10, at Pinewood Terrace in Farmington.
She was born on June 9, 1927, in Chisholm, the daughter of Felix Gallant and Josephine (Casey) Gallant. Irene was a graduate of St. Rose of Lima School and attended the Jay schools. On June 15, 1946, she married Raymond B. Samson at St. Rose of Lima in Jay.
She was a loving wife and mother, who enjoyed life and being a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Irene served as a Eucharistic minister and Sacristan. She was also a teacher of Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD).
She is survived by two sons, Gary Samson of South Portland, and Maurice Samson and wife, Donna, of Virginia Beach, Va.; three daughters, Susan Israelson and husband, David, of Livermore, Nancy Coombs of Jay, and Valerie Deckard and her companion, Richard, of South Portland; her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Samson of North Jay; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Raymond B. Samson; her son, Roland Samson; son-in-law, Dennis Coombs; sisters, Marie Leblanc, Margaret “Maggie” Dufour, Celina Jacques, Annie Fournier and Josephine Cabral; and two brothers, Pete Gallant and Isadore “Pat” Gallant.
Her family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Pinewood Terrace, who lovingly took care of Irene. They truly showed her love.
