FARMINGTON — A Central Maine Power crew Monday replaced a pole damaged by a tractor-trailer Saturday, allowing Bridge Street to reopen.
The street was closed to traffic over the weekend after a Dead River Co. fuel truck hit the pole about 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
Ronald Bragg, 69, of Clifton stopped the 2013 Volvo tractor-trailer near the West Farmington Post Office. He was having trouble with the vehicle’s brakes and thought they had locked up in the cold weather, Farmington Deputy Chief Shane Cote read from the police report.
Bragg got out of the vehicle to check on them, according to the police report, and the brakes released, sending the truck down the hill and into the pole near the Complete Denture Center, according to the report.
Power for 1,366 Central Maine Power customers was interrupted for 36 minutes Saturday morning as a crew stabilized the pole until it could be replaced Monday, said Gail Rice, spokesman for CMP.
Customers in Temple and Farmington were affected, she said.
The Dead River truck was damaged and towed by a wrecker from Collins Enterprises.
