MEXICO — The new school district comprising the towns of Canton, Carthage, Dixfield and Peru will not seek to share services with RSU 10, from which the towns withdrew in November, the chairwoman of the new board said Monday.
“We will not be coming to RSU 10 at this point (or) at any time to ask to share (services),” said RSU 10 board member Barbara Chow, also RSU 56’s chairwoman.
Chow told the group that originally a lawyer working with the newly formed Regional School Unit 56 asked the board to seek shared services with RSU 10.
In other business, Maintenance and Transportation Director Kenny Robbins reviewed a budget proposal for the buildings and grounds budget for next year for RSU 10. Robbins said the proposal is about $100,000 less than last year’s expenditure of $346,360.
The cost of the roof replacement at Mountain Valley High School is $34,000, according to Business Manager Mary Dailey.
Robbins said that if the RSU receives approval for a $1 million bond, it will cover the cost of the roof.
The central offices for RSU 10 will be relocated to Mountain Valley High School. Construction and other needs for the offices total $224,287.
