WILTON — Two residents charged with taking items from an apartment from which they’d been evicted were released from jail after a court appearance Wednesday, officials said.
Kevin Scott Heikkinen, 28, and Dianna Marie Henderson, 26, were arrested Monday on a charge of burglary by Wilton officer Ethan Kyes.
At their court appearance, they were each given a summons and released from the Franklin County Detention Center without bail. They will be arraigned later, according to a jail officer.
Witnesses told police the couple entered a Route 2 residence at about 2:15 p.m. Sunday, Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said. The two were legally evicted from there March 1 and the landlord changed the locks, the chief said.
The two selectively chose items — none of great value — and put them in contractor bags, Wilcox said.
Abandoned property in an eviction is legally the landowner’s, Wilcox said.
The burglary was reported at 6:30 a.m. Monday.
