SOUTH PORTLAND — Twenty-five Lewiston Regional Technical Center students represented the center at the 2017 FBLA State Leadership Conference on March 20 and 21 at the Doubletree in South Portland.
The Future Business Leaders of America conference was attended by more than 200 high school students representing 12 FBLA Maine state chapters.
Over 50 LRTC students competed at the local level in 29 competitive events in areas such as marketing, hospitality and tourism, and information technology.
Future Business Leaders of America is the largest career student organization in the world. FBLA provides students opportunities to showcase their skills, strengths and business knowledge in related business topics.
Each year, FBLA selects an organization to support for the state service project. This year, LRTC Student Council and FBLA members worked as a team to raise money in support of the Travis Mills Foundation which assists wounded and injured veterans and their families.
Lewiston Regional Technology Center students Nate Sessions, left, and Matt Hird placed fifth at the 2016 National Leadership Conference of the Future Business Leaders of America in Atlanta, Georgia. Sessions, along with Isaac Kabuika and Daniel Moreau placed fifth in the nation for network design. Hird placed fifth in the nation for Sales Presentation.
