Palm Sunday
April 9, 2017
“The Palms” was the call to worship sung by the choir, their other hymn was “Thirty Pieces of Silver.” The Lyman’s sang “Just as the Sun went Down.” Congressional hymns were: “Hosanna, Loud Hosanna;” “All Glory, Laud, and Honor;” and “I Surrender All.”
Today’s scripture reading was Luke 23:13-24, and the name of Pastor Bonnie’s message was titled, “Jesus’ Feelings.” Did you ever wonder how Jesus felt, knowing that he was innocent, and listening to the crowd crying, “Crucify Him”? A few days before, on the original Palm Sunday, the same people were praising Him and calling Him their king. Then He was mocked, scorned, scorched and nailed on a cross to die. But, Jesus knew what he had to endure, so that we could have eternal life. If you have accepted Jesus, He is with you 24/7, in good times and bad, even if you are sinning He is there. How many of us could have endured what Jesus did? Holy Week begins today and is the celebration of Jesus’ life. We are all members of the family of God, who is just waiting to hear that we are ready, and need Him in our hearts.
