JAY — Police are following a lead on a potential suspect who attempted to break into a residence on East Dixfield Road, also known as Route 17, on Tuesday night while a resident was home.
The resident called 911 at 8:16 p.m. while the suspect was trying to get in, Detective Michael Mejia said Wednesday.
Officer Stephanie Guillemette did not locate any suspects in the area, he said.
Guillemette did see that damage was done to a door of the residence. The potential intruder did not gain entry.
Wilton Sgt. Chad Abbott arrived to assist her and a police dog was requested.
The K-9 attempted to conduct a track at the scene, however, no scent was detected, Mejia said.
