LEWISTON — Downtown Lewiston eARTh Day will be celebrated from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, with artwork, music, historic walking tours and a citywide cleanup.
It is sponsored by the Lewiston-Auburn Chapter of the Union of Maine Visual Arts, the Downtown Lewiston Art District and businesses. It’s free and open to the public.
Rain date is April 23.
Along Lisbon Street will be children’s activities, music and artists creating public art on fire hydrants and sidewalk squares. Bates College students will host Historic Walking Tours at 11 a.m. and and 12:30 p.m. starting at Bear Bones Brewery, 43 Lisbon St.
Also starting at Bear Bones at 1:30 p.m. is a Studio and Public Art Walking Tour guided by Stanley Hollenbeck of the Hive artisan co-op at 178 Lisbon St.
Citywide there will be an art drop by Wicked Illustrations.
Also, throughout the city cleanup crews will be collecting trash. Those who want to help can email sheriwithers@gmail.com.
