PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Eleanor Carter Laycock, 94, of New London, Conn., passed away on Saturday, April 1, at the home of Jeffrey and Joan Laycock, her son and daughter-in-law, in Port Charlotte, Fla.

She was born in Melrose, Mass., on Nov. 26, 1922, the daughter of John and Irene Carter. She was married for 70 years to Frank Laycock, who predeceased her in 2012. They lived in New London, Conn., for 65 years, where he owned Laycock Business Machines.

During her youth, the family spent the summers at Worthley Pond at their cottage which her grandfather built in 1910. Since their retirement, Frank and Eleanor enjoyed summers there for over 30 years and on most Tuesdays, went to Tina’s for chicken pot pie. After dinner, they were apt to canoe around the pond, waving to many other camp friends along the way.

She leaves her daughter, Suzanne Sypher and her husband, Tom, of Mystic, Conn.; her son, Jeffrey Laycock and his wife, Joan, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service took place on April 11 in New London.
