American Legion hosting DJ Jean Louis

AUBURN — William J. Rogers Post 153, American Legion, will host music, karaoke and dance with DJ Jean Louis from 7 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays in May at 71 South Main St.

The dates are May 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27.

MECHANIC FALLS — RSU 16 will hold kindergarten registration events during May.

Elm Street School will conduct Parent Night at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 9. Parents should call 207-345-3381 if they can not attend.

Minot Consolidated School will hold registration from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 17. Parents should call 207-346-6471 if they can not attend.

Poland Community School will have registration on Wednesday, May 24. Parents should call 207-998-4915, ext. 0 to schedule an appointment. The event is for students who did not attend the prekindergarten program at PCS.

Society to hear from drone pilot

LISBON FALLS — The Lisbon Historical Society will host Steve Yenco and his drone, “Moxie,” at its Wednesday, May 10, meeting at 18 School St.

Yenco will share drone footage and photographs of Lisbon and other areas of the state, including Mt. Katahdin and the coast.

Along with the drone, Yenco also photographs with standard and trail cameras. He states that he is not a professional photographer, rather he is a weather watcher for local TV channels and the National Weather Service. He is a member of Mount Washington Observatory and a volunteer for Marine Mammals of Maine, a seal rescue group that covers the coast from Kittery to Rockland. 

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served after the program. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the program will start at 7 p.m.

?Lewiston Democratic Committee meeting

Lewiston — The Lewiston Democratic City Committee will hold its monthly business meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, at the Lewiston Armory.

This month, former LA Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, Chip Morrison, who represents the Lewiston-Auburn Joint Charter Commission, will speak to the advantages of Lewiston and Auburn’s proposed consolidation.

Monthly business will be conducted and reports from events and fundraising committee will be read. The recent Town Hall and the Maine Dem’s Opportunity agenda will also be discussed. There will be a block of time set aside for an open forum.

Free ‘Building Confidence’ class

LEWISTON — New Ventures Maine will offer “Building Confidence” from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning May 30, at University of Southern Maine at the Lewiston/Auburn College on Westminster Street.

The class will help participants understand and assess self-esteem and build self-confidence. The course will discuss concrete tools to raise self-esteem and build confidence for the job search and career planning.

Pre-registration is required, and there is no fee for the class.
