CUMBERLAND — Senior pitcher Ryan Twitchell tossed a perfect game and struck out 18 as Greely dispatched Poland 4-0 in baseball action Monday afternoon.

Senior pitcher Noah Salmons had a solid outing on the mound for the Knights (2-6), only giving up two earned runs for the Knights (2-6).

Three of the Ranger’s (6-1) runs came in the bottom of the sixth inning. All six of Greely’s hits were of the single variety.

Lewiston 8, Messalonskee 2

LEWISTON — Evan Cox scattered two hits and received ample run support as Lewiston hustled to  8-2 victory over Messalonskee in a local baseball tilt Monday.

Cox led the Blue Devils (3-4) with two hits and two RBIs. Brock Belanger also belted out two hits.

Jack LeBlond worked the final two frames for Lewiston, while Messalonskee’s Parker Poulin suffered the loss. 

Edward Little 13, Lawrence 5

WATERVILLE — Senior right fielder Mason Brushwein collected three RBIs to lead Edward Little to a 13-5 victory over Lawrence in baseball action Monday afternoon.

The Red Eddies (4-2) produced eight runs in the third and fourth innings to set the pace. Junior designated hitter Grant Hartley contributed two runs and two RBIs.

Center fielder Colby Lawrence roped a two-run triple in the fifth inning for the Bulldogs (2-5). Catcher Devon Webb provided two hits. Defensively, Lawrence made three double plays in the losing effort.

Oxford Hills 4, Skowhegan 1

PARIS — Sophomore shortstop Janek Luksza doubled and knocked in a run as Oxford Hills secured a 4-1 victory over Skowhegan in baseball action Monday afternoon.

The Vikings (4-1) scored first with a pair of runs in the third inning. Senior right fielder Connor Truman also plated a run for Oxford Hills.

Left fielder Jake Blodgett was the only repeat hitter in the game, with a pair of singles for the Indians (1-5) in the losing effort.

Girls’ lacrosse

Lewiston 10, Edward Little 5

LEWISTON — Sasha Leclair and Rachel Ouellette both registered hat tricks Monday as Lewiston hustled to a 10-5 mid-season girls’ lacrosse win over Twin Cities rival Edward Little.

Christine Chasse chipped in for the Blue Devils (4-1) with two goals, while Julia St. Laurent and Morgan Eliasen also tallied. Megan Steele led the Red Eddies (0-4) with two goals, while single tallies from Haley Frohlich, Kaylee Jipson and Piper Norcross completed the scoring. 

CeCe Racine made seven saves for Lewiston, while veteran keeper Mariah Vaillancourt turned aside 19 shots between the posts for Edward Little. 

Softball

Messalonskee 6, Lewiston 2

LEWISTON — Messalonskee made a late-game rally with four runs in the sixth inning to record a 6-2 win over Lewiston in a rain-soaked mid-season softball tilt.

Danielle Hall led the Eagles (2-6) with two triples, a single and two RBIs. Alyssa Geness and Mackenzie Charest chipped in with two hits each in a balanced effort.

Alyssa Smith scattered five hits in seven innings to earn the win.

Jordyn Rubin led the Blue Devils (5-3) with two hits and one RBI, while Megan Theriault suffered the loss.  

Skowhegan 7, Oxford Hills 2

PARIS — Mariah Dunbar’s double sparked a five-run third inning as Skowhegan raced away to post a 7-2 mid-season victory over Oxford Hills on Monday. 

Dunbar and Lindsey Warren led the Indians with two hits and two RBIs each, while Julia Steeves contributed with a pair of hits. 

The Vikings (2-3) were led by freshman sensation Madison Day, who smashed a two-run home run in the fourth inning.

Ashley Alwond gave up six hits while earning the win. Sydney Crocker suffered the loss. 

Leavitt 20, Mt. View 9

TURNER — Leavitt erupted for nine runs in the sixth inning and came away with a convincing 20-9 rout over Mt. View in more mid-season softball action Monday. 

Hope Hutchinson led the Hornets with a three-run triple in the fourth. Annika Mitchell also contributed, with two hits and two RBIs. 

Krissy Allen led Mt. View with two hits and three RBIs, while Reanna Boulay belted a two-run triple in the second inning.

Abby Robertson scattered nine hits for Leavitt.

Edward Little 5, Lawrence 3

WATERVILLE — Maddie Thistlewaite plated Grace Beaudet and scored on an error in the sixth inning to give Edward Little a 5-3 win over Lawrence Monday.

Taylor Depot led the undefeated Red Eddies (6-0) with two hits, while Beaudet and Thistlewaite combined for two hits and one RBI. 

Lilly Herrin led the Bulldogs (2-5) with an RBI single, while Cassidy Sirois belted a single and scored one run. 

Greely 2, Poland 1

CUMBERLAND — Junior Madison Rawnsley singled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Greely notched a 2-1 victory over Poland in softball action Monday afternoon.

The contest was a scoreless pitcher’s duel through sixth innings. The Knights (4-4) scored a run in the top of the seventh to take a brief lead.

Senior shortstop Sarah Walton provided a double as one of Poland’s three hits.

Following a walk and an attempted bunt for an out, senior Moira Train doubled to tie the game at 1-1 for the the Rangers (3-4). Rawnsley then plated Train for the winning run.

Dirigo 20, Wiscasset 6, 5 innings

WISCASSET — Alexa Varnum had four hits in Dirigo’s 20-6 victory over Wiscasset in a Mountain Valley Conference softball contest Monday.

Two of Varnum’s hits were doubles. She also drove in five runs.

Dirigo opened the floodgates early, as 12 Cougars (2-4) came home in the first inning. Kate Morse had two singles in the game and drove home six runs. Gabby White had two hits, including a double, while driving in three runs. Lillie Williams had three hits and Maddie Degroot had two hits and a pair of RBIs.

August Moore had a pair of hits for the Wolverines (1-5).
