FARMINGTON — Regional School Unit 9 has canceled the five remaining late arrival Wednesdays as part of an effort to make up school days that were canceled because of snow or ice, Superintendent Tom Ward said.

The district had seven snow days this year. By eliminating the one-hour late arrival days for the rest of the year, it will make up the last snow day.

The state considers five hours a school day, according to administrators.

The five days that will be treated as a normal school day are May 17, 24 and 31 and June 7 and 14.

Students will come to school at the normal time on those days, Ward said.

The last school day for students, other than graduating seniors, is June 16, which will be a half-day, he said.

Seniors will be out of school prior to their graduation at 1 p.m. on  June 11.

Seniors are required to attend school 170 days during a school year while students in other grades need to have 175 days, Ward said.

Teachers are also in the process of making up for snow days.
