JAY — Two women are accused of prostitution and drug-related charges after police stopped a vehicle on Route 133 late Wednesday for a vehicle defect.
A third person also faces charges.
Officer Dylan Rider stopped a vehicle driven by Jesse Gaudette, 28, of Skowhegan at about 10:08 p.m.
There were two other passengers in the vehicle who were eventually identified as Elizabeth Cicoro, 22, of Penobscot and Rose Horan 35, of Skowhegan, Detective Michael Mejia said Friday.
As Rider spoke with the occupants of the vehicle he began to suspect that one of them was providing false information about who she was, Mejia said. A false name and date of birth was in fact provided to Rider by one of the passengers, he said.
Ryder’s investigation led him to discover Cicoro’s true identify, and he found that there was an active warrant out for her arrest. The warrant out of Penobscot County charged operating a methamphetamine laboratory and violation of bail.
Initially Cicoro was placed under arrest on the active warrant as well as new misdemeanor charges of failure to give correct name, possession of hypodermic apparatus and violation of condition of release.
After Ryder interviewed her at the Franklin County jail, he charged her on a misdemeanor count of sex trafficking.
The second passenger in the vehicle, who had already been correctly identified as Horan, was found to also be in possession of hypodermic apparatus as well as scheduled drugs believed to be heroin and Percocet, Mejia said.
Rider’s investigation would also show that Horan had previously provided heroin to Cicoro with expectation of being paid at a later time, Mejia said.
Horan was placed under arrest on felony charges of unlawful furnishing of schedule W drug and trafficking in hypodermic apparatus and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of schedule W drug.
As Ryder continued his investigation at the jail, Horan was charged on a misdemeanor count of engaging in prostitution, Mejia said.
Ryder discovered during his investigation that the three people involved in the motor vehicle stop had been on their way to a location in Livermore Falls to engage in prostitution, Mejia said.
Gaudette was also found to be in possession of a scheduled drug believed to be heroin. He was placed under arrest on misdemeanor charges of unlawful possession of a scheduled W drug and operating an unregistered motor vehicle, he said.
This incident remains under investigation and additional charges are expected. Rider was assisted in his investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Mejia said.
Horan posted $500 cash bail and Gaudette posted $450 cash bail and both were released from jail on Thursday, a corrections officer said.
Cicoro is being held without bail.
