LIVERMORE FALLS — A Leeds man is accused of accosting a person at a gathering and pulling out 9 mm pistol early Sunday at a residence on Pine Ridge Loop, Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Monday.
James Smith Jr., 29, was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and aggravated reckless conduct.
Smith was at a gathering at Pine Ridge Loop and an argument got started, Steward said.
Apparently Smith interjected himself into the argument and pulled out a gun wanting to know the name of a person involved in the argument.
“Supposedly he was accosting a gentleman in the kitchen who was involved in the argument at the home” he said.
The Police Department was called because of the argument going on at about 1 a.m.
When police arrived at the residence Smith had left and gone to another residence at Pine Ridge Loop.
Police located Smith, and he was arrested.
Officer Troy Reed was assisted by Livermore Falls officer Christopher Fletcher and Jay officer Mike Booker.
Smith told police he was on probation for an unrelated matter. Smith was being held on a probation hold Monday at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn.
