RUMFORD — A Rumford couple charged with drug trafficking have been transferred to Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset after being arraignment in Rumford District Court, an Oxford County corrections officer said Tuesday.

Randy Aron, 40, and Jessica Pare, 40, each pleaded not guilty to Class A aggravated trafficking of cocaine base and violating conditions of release at their court appearance Friday.

Conviction of a Class A crime is punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.

Aron’s bail was set at $50,000 cash, with the conditions that he not use or possess any illegal drugs or dangerous weapons, be subject to random search and testing, and have no direct contact with Pare.

Pare’s bail was set at $20,000 cash, with the same conditions as Aron.

The two were arrested early Friday morning at Pare’s apartment at 60 Main St., according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. Law enforcement personnel seized nine grams of crack cocaine and $8,350 in cash.

Aron and Pare were among seven people arrested by the MDEA on March 1 on charges of dealing cocaine at the couple’s home at 12 Angie Lane in Mexico. They were released on bail on the condition that they not commit crimes or have contact with each other.

On April 6, they were seen by police driving together in Rumford, and when Officer Brad Gallant pulled their car over, Aron fled and Pare was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a scheduled drug, operating after suspension, attempting to elude an officer, refusing to submit to arrest and violating conditions of release.

Pare was later released from jail on $1,000 cash bail, while officers were unable to find Aron at that time.
