FARMINGTON — A Farmington man was arrested early Friday morning for firing a gun multiple times outside his home at 2 a.m., Deputy Police Chief Shane Cote said.
Richard White, 70, of Holly Road, was charged with reckless conduct with a firearm and taken to the Franklin County Detention Center, the chief said.
White’s wife notified police he was outside with a gun and she was concerned he was threatening to harm himself, although White said he had no such intention, Cote said.
When police Sgt. Michael Adcock and officer Jesse Clement arrived, White was in the road, and the officers heard gunshots but couldn’t tell if he was firing toward them. White went into the house and came out unarmed, Cote said.
White was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital and then to jail.
