FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Audit Report with the audited financial statements for county government and unorganized territory for fiscal year ending June 30, 2016, is available to the public, according to Treasurer Pam Prodan.
The report is posted on the Franklin County government website at www.franklincountymaine.gov/treasurer. It is also available for review by contacting the county Commissioners’ Office in the Franklin County Courthouse building in Farmington.
“The County has a (Government Auditing Standards) audit annually,” the release states. “It provides the taxpayers and others with a transparent look at how we are handling the county’s money.”
“The fiscal year 2016 audited statements indicate that the overall financial health of Franklin County government is strong,” according to Prodan.
The Treasurer’s Office is responsible for the county’s fiscal accounting matters, including paying bills, collecting amounts owed the county, reserve/investment accounts, maintaining the county’s financial records and other matters related to the county’s finances. The office processes payroll biweekly.
A separate audit report for the unorganized territories in Franklin County is also available for the fiscal year 2016. It can be found on the county’s website under the “UT” tab.
