LEWISTON — The Lewiston CareerCenter continues its workshop programs for job-seekers and those considering training to upgrade their skills and increase their employability. CareerCenters can assist businesses by offering workshops on location, at local businesses or other organizations at no cost.

The following workshops and programs will be held at the CareerCenter in Lewiston unless otherwise noted.

Monday, June 5: Job Fair with 30+ Employers, 10 a.m. to noon. Participating employers from diverse industries across the state will talk with job-seekers. Be prepared with a resume and to have an “interview-like” conversation. Dress appropriately.

Wednesday, June 7: Resume Basics and Build a Resume Workshop, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Bring work history profile from Maine JobLink. Learn the basic do’s and don’ts of resume writing. Computers will be available to compose a draft resume with staff assistance.

Wednesday, June 14: Career Decision Making, 9 a.m. to noon. Review factors involved in making career decisions, assessment tools used, and other resources. Identify career and training steps to achieve career goals.

Thursday, June 15: Introduction to Self-Employment Workshop, 10 a.m. to noon. The class covers the pros and cons of owning a business, the elements of a business plan, and the many resources available to succeed. Register by calling Karlene Andrews at 207-557-1885.

Thursday, June 15: Interview Skills/Mock Interviews, 2 to 4 p.m. Learn the basics about interviewing and get the tools needed to feel comfortable in an interview. Session will include include mock interviews.

Thursday, June 22: New Mainers Workshop, 9 to 11 a.m. How to complete paper and online job applications. Somali interpreter will be available; if other language interpreters are needed, request by June 8 by calling 207-753-9005.

Wednesday, June 28, Orientation for People with Disabilities, 2 to 3 p.m. For people who are considering vocational rehabilitation services. Service providers are also welcome to attend. Held the fourth Wednesday of the month. Registration not required.

Essentials of College Planning for Adults: To register, call: 1-800-281-3703. Basic steps for college or trade school enrollment, entrance requirements, admissions procedures and financial aid. Bring last year’s income tax forms to the appointment.
